Ballet in films

written by   on 23.02. at 11:34:33
I've spent a few days getting a handle on what's going on in this site and subjects covered in the past and I think that I've found a major ommission.  Please forgive me if I'm wrong.

Hollywood musicals are a rich hunting ground for the ballet fiend!

OKLAHOMA has a fairly lengthy ballet dream sequence in it with loads of tight and slipper footage.

ON THE TOWN has a plot set around a sailor (Frank Sinatra?) and pals on shore leave trying to find a girl who turns out to be a ballet student (and part time exotic dancer - phew what a combination!)  Look out for the scene when Frank finds the girl in ballet class.  She's standing on her head doing exercies and we get a fantastic lingering shot of her tight clad legs and black satin pointe shoes.

AN AMERICAN IN PARIS has lengthy ballet passages with the beautiful Lesley Caron in extremely good form.

I'm sure there are many more so lets share some knowledge.  Anything with Audrey Hepburn in it wearing tights and ballet shoes - soft or pointe would be great.  Get your brains working!!!See ya!

p.s does anyone remember an episode of the Million Dollar Woman where our heroine (Lindsey Wagner) is up against a cloned double.  I seem to remember a scene of her coming out of the shower in a towelling robe and white ballet shoes that she was wearing as slippers (that's my girl!!)
