>> I would suggest that if you want to see tights movies, then rent 'costume'>>movies (fairytale like movies) such as The Pied piper of Hamlin (color >>1958 starring Van Johnson, Claud Raines) the whole movie is nothing but >>tights (everybody girls, boys, men, women). Also, find the old 60's Roger >>Corman film Mask of the Red Death starring Vincent Price (Tons of tights and >>even a ballerina sequence!!). Rodgers and Hammersteins Cinderella is another>>great tights film (the 60's had great tights films!! very colorful outfits).>>More films to look for would be King Alfred, The Prince and the Pauper (look for the British versions fairy tale films). You will not likely find too many ballet>>movies with lots of tights unless you rent the ballet videos (like Gisselle or>>Romeo and Juliet)again look for the European or Russian companies (better costumes). I agree, Billy Elliot was awful.>>>>Waitaminnit. Awful? True, no guys in tights, but "BE" had a lot to recommend it, by my lights. First, it flew in the face of the "all danseurs are gay" prejudice. Secondly, it made dance look like a cool thing to do. At least, it did for me! By contrast, "Stayin' Alive" had loads of tights in it, on men and women, but it was truly one of the most astonishingly stupid movies about dance ever made. I mean, a 30-minute broadway show? Who the hell told Stallone he could make a dance movie anyway?-Depon>P.S. Also, "BE" had a soundtrack largely consisting of T-Rex songs. What's not to like?>>

I agree with Depon.  (I don't always)  Billy Elliot is an uplifting film which cuts across many of the prejudices around Ballet. Every woman in my ballet class wanted to take their children - especially boys - to see ballet portrayed in a positive light.

Riddler there were a number of scenes especially the audition at White Lodge the Royal Ballet School of students in tights and tutus but since the main character was about 12 - 13 the age group of the dancers was bound to be pretty much the same.  But I must confess that I'm puzzled.  Why would you want to see a 13 y.o. boy in tights?  and if you don't see it does that condemn the contents of the film?

p.s. Don't forget the soundtrack included The Jam - A Town Like Malice

p.p.s.  Good luck with the ballet class Riddler.  Don't go just for the tights and leotard.  Go for the dancing.  If you don't you are not likely to get a very positive response and that will spoil your enjoyment.  Let us know how it goes.
