Proper Ballet Attire

Since I enjoy dressing up for ballet class so much,I would like to offer some pointers for the beginning and not so beginning dresser.

First of all, if you are going to wear a scoop-neck leotard, shave or depilate your chest...and your back!

Second, do augment your package by wearing socks or whatever...believe me no one will be able to tell the difference.  In fact, what I do is cut the calf off my sports socks and flatten them so that the heel is on top of my package--one sock is good, two is generous....three is uh maniacal.

Third, if you are not happy with the size of your calves per se (and dancers tend to have glorioue calves!), buy some soccer socks that reach up to just below your knees (I use boy sizes) and wear them under your tights.

Fourth, if you have small feet, don't wear ballet slippers, wear socks instead (these also make it easier to spin...but watch out for slipping!)

Fifth, make sure your hair is off your neck, this gives you an elegant neckline!

Sixth, if you need them, go ahead and wear those girdle vests, they work great with a wide elastic belt under a leotard (girls wear them to class too!..just be careful you are not cutting off too much circulation...you don't want to face the paramedics in a leotard!

Seventh, use the mirror to goggle at girls (or guys), its considered rude to stare at in class.

8th, although etiquette says stuff your shirt inside your tights, frankly it looks and feels a lot better outside...make the shirt of medium or tight fit, and of a dark color (white and tight always sucks)!

See you in class everybody!!

Enjoy!
