I know that they're not the same thang exactly, but I've been marvelling at the 80's galband The Bangles lately. Even without the tights, I would've been gaga over the Bangles (and I can't say that for the Go-Gos.) They do the best cover of a Jules Shear song in life (titled "If She Knew What She Wants.") Amazing lyrics sung by sweet-voiced girls (who get the subtleties of the words and the music,) and a great, if a little "end-of-the-John-Hughes-movie" arrangement.
