A WONDERFUL day on planet Vic!

written by Vic at  on 13.10. at 16:18:49
WOO FRIKKIN' HOO!! Off-topic, but I gotta celebrate! On-topic next time, I promise! Marie caught her mom smoking in the house yesterday- the ONE big thing she wasn't supposed to do. M-in-law lied at first, said she "got caught her first time." Then it was- "It's only been for a week." Then it's- "The window was open, so it shouldn't be a problem."(!) Marie has asthma, allergies & some other lung problems, and smoke is a serious health risk for her. I just plain hate it. Marie's mom is also on high-flow oxygen 24/7 (due to decades of smoking), and oxygen + cigs = blowtorch! We can't be always worrying if she's gonna burn down our home! Marie took back the house key, said- "Vic will be moving you out TODAY. Fill your portable tank, because he's taking your main tanks out FIRST." I was SO very proud of Marie! I had been worrying that she'd buckle once something like this happened, and I'd have to be the "bad guy". Marie was pretty pissed about all the time, work, and money we put out to try and help her, and smoking mattered more than her own daughter's health. I could tell she had been smoking a while, (the STENCH!) but couldn't prove it, because it was always in her private bathroom with the door shut. Marie doesn't have a good sense of smell, but could feel her lung problems kicking up.Don't feel bad for mom-in-law. She's physically able to go out alone for 2-3 hour drives for "errands" (cigs) every day, and is able to move a 27" color TV from one room to another. I asked m-i-l, "Why does someone with your fairly high function level need live-in help?" She nonchalantly responds- "I don't! I just thought Marie WANTED me to move in!!" Jeez Louise!!! I'll still help her with chores & such now that she's back in her own home (Thank God it didn't sell!) I'm not looking to punish her, I'm just so thrilled it's over!I was too whupped for fun yesterday after 11 hours of moving, but Marie & I are SO looking forward to some SERIOUS playing tonight & this weekend (making up for lost time!). I PROMISE to post some good on-topic stories as they happen, but for now I just had to revel in my good fortune. This worked out the best way it possibly could. My dear Marie & I have our lives back. That's no exaggeration, no casual phrasing.Hope all of YOU out there have a great day too!! Later!- VicP.S.- Fate IS giving her one punishment- the cable TV company "waiting list" to hook her back up is 12 days! For her, having just plain broadcast TV is worse than being a Guantanamo detainee!
