Hey Mark! Lighten up!

The people who read these "parsimony" web sites should be samrt enough to know the serious ballet guys from the ballet "freaks."

The sad fact of the matter is that there are people out there who will pre-judge ballet guys, just like they pre-judge people of different colors, different religions, different origins, etc.  That's why they call it "predjudice!"

I've been in ballet too long not to known that some people will always "assume" things about ballet guys, when we're really just guys who want to express ourselves through dance.  I continue daily classes to keep fit, but many of my friends still say things like "Why don't you go to the gym?"  Like a treadmill isn't boring!

Look how much research money goes into medical research on sports, and how little of it is devoted to dancers. I could tell stories of how educated medical men and women react to dancers versus other "jocks."  It's sad, but, in many ways, that's the way of the world.  I don't think its right, but can't worry about it too much.

There's a whole section on AOL about celebrity fitness fads/fabs, but not one mention of ballet.

As ballet guys, serious ballet guys, we have to do our best to express our love of ballet and portray its value, as an art and as a "sport" that can keep us fit and healthy.  The ballet freaks won't stand up and shout too loudly for their "activities," but we should proclaim ours!
