Re: Jazz Boots vs Jazz SNEAKERS

You have to try some of the web-sites for dancewear, like www.nydanceware.com or www.backbaydancewear.com.  Actually, log into www.danceart.com and www.balletalert.com and go to their LINKS pages, where you'll find lots of dancewear sites.

Jazz BOOTS are available from many sources.  I'm a ballet dancer, but have taken some jazz, but haven't bought a pair of jazz boots in several years.  The last pair of jazz boots I bought was outside of Chicago at Leos (I don't know if they have a web site.) and they were cheap, about $9.00, but I would anticipate they are a lot more nowadays.

One important thing about the footwear available today....There are jazz SNEAKERS, with split-soles.  These are musch more rigid than jazz shoes or jazz boots.  Your typical jazz BOOTS are a light boot made out of leather.  Your typical jazz SNEAKER is more like a sneaker, and takes some time before they get comfortable/flexible.  (I do have a pair of jazz sneakers that I wear on the street, but wouldn't think of wearing them in any class; but, then again, I prefer light, leather ballet slippers to anything!)

Good luck!  BalletMaster
