Most ballet slippers, leather or canvas, have lots of glue used in their making. The inside lining is glued to the outside; the card-board insole is often glued to the lining. Heated water with chlorine (as in a pool) would quickly destroy them! Why don't you wear those neoprene slippers people use at the beach nowadays? As for tights in aquatic exercise....I don't think I've ever seen tights worn in a pool. As for tights in water, I used to do lots of scuba diving, and had a body suit of lycra, much like my unitards for ballet class except with better zippers, for warm water diving.
