[i]I'm a 40 year old (yeah old!) proffesional athlete that started ballet last year using several "how to" video tapes. I would love to take classes but can not due to several reasons (no adult classes offered in town). I started ballet for movement skills, to improve balance and to improve flexability. I am very fit (in my sport anyway). I realize I have no hope to become any good at it but I must say I really enjoy ballet training. My questions are:
Does anyone know any exersizes to increase foot speed?
My flexability has improved for one who could barely touch his toes 2 years ago (knee injuries ACL & MCL). I can almost (very close) do the front splits with both legs but am no where near that with the side splits. Any ideas on a good approach. I would also like to be able to get more height on raising my legs.
Any help would be appreciated, keep on dancing...
