This is absolutely dead right & cannot be repeated too often.  Thefirst time is frequently an utter turn-off, it's so unexpectedlydifficult & discouraging.  It's only after you've continued, as Dr.Dancebelt says, for a couple of months that you begin to feel athome in class.  And then you're hooked--if you're lucky--for life.
