>In my experience, if you wait until conditions are 'just right' - they never will be.  Just go for it.  I think you will find you are in good company.  Lots of luck to you - Basheva >>>About 30 years ago I did ballet and decided to stop classes when I was working towards RAD Intermediate.  I did some contemporary and jazz after that but basically I haven't done any ballet since I was in my teens, and very little of any kind of exercise in the last ten years!  >>My own children are doing ballet now and I'm watching them and their classes and am finding myself really longing to dance again, ballet in particular.  I am now about 50lbs heavier than my teenage dancing weight, I am feeling very much less flexible and fit than I was and I don't want to even try a class until I have managed to tackle some of this, particularly my weight.  I don't think my joints would be happy with strenuous exercise with the weight I am at the moment!  I wouldn't want anyone to see me in a leotard either!>>However, I would like to begin with something, somehow and get the whole show on the road again.  I have a fantasy that I will be slimmer, bendier and more graceful as I float through my imminent menopause years!  I know that getting me doing ballet again at a level I am content with will take a long time but has anyone any suggestions where I should begin?   >>Has anyone out there gone back to ballet after such a long break?I'm 38 now and started dancing again 2 years ago. I also was afraid that I was too overweight, too old and would look foolish.  I danced intensly for a couple of years(14-15 yrs old)got on pointe and then my life changed alot and I didn't dance anymore. I got married and had kids and by then I thought I was absolutley too old to dance. However there was a passion deep inside.  I was at a workshopfor Worship Dance at my church and for a warm up we did a barre exercised, and a few plies later I was hooked again. I dance about 8 hours a week and I still want more. I'm even considering going to a community college that offers a dance degree program to get an AA in dance. I am very glad I took that first(very scary) class full of teenagers. Oh and I have lost some weight and I know that I am in much better shape than I was a couple of years ago.
