Re: Men on Pointe?

I took pointe classes from a male teacher.  He danced on pointe.  The idea was to strengthen the feet, ankles, etc., and perfect centering.

I had pointe shoes custom-made.

The girls didn't say anything; maybe they were being polite.

After about three months, I said to myself "Why?"

Guys dance on pointe only in some character roles and in travesty, like the Trocks.

I wanted to express my maleness and the strength of the male ballet danseur...that wasn't what pointe was about.  I needed to jump!

I have three or four pairs of pointe shoes somewhere in a an old box.
