Should I take a beginner's ballet class?

Ever since I was 10 or so, people- including my ballet dancer friends- have been asking me if I take or have taken ballet, and when I tell them no, they say I am very graceful (I am VERY flexible as well) and they think I would be a natural dancer. I would love to take intro ballet, but I'm worried that everyone else there will be thin and I am 5'8 and a size 8 (140 lbs). Am I too heavy? I think my legs and buttocks are too fat for me to wear tights and a leotard. I don't want to stick out like a sore thumb... Thanks for any replies.
