Don't worry about the "too tall" business.  5'5" is about average forballerinas, which means that just about every company out there hires5'5" dancers.  It's amazing, half the 5'5" women are told they're "tooshort" for ballet, the other half are told they're "too tall".  Gofigure...

If you wish to have a professional career in ballet, then you shouldenroll in a professional ballet training program.  Not just anyneighborhood studio that offers a few ballet classes, but a realprofessional school with graduates who go on to professional balletcareers.  And yes, that will involve at least 6 classes per week.

I cannot say whether or not ballet should be a hobby for you.  That alldepends on what you are willing or able to put into it.  It takes manysacrifices and a huge amount of dedication to make it to theprofessional level.
