Catalbutte was the master of the court, who led the court rentinue onto the stage, and introduced the individual dances before the court before the Prince and Beauty did their pas-de-deux! He was one of those guys who jumps out onto the stage between the different pas-de-deux to make the ballet symbol for "let's make jolly."
