need 4 dance!

written by Christine  on 24.10. at 01:25:50
Hi, I’m  25 years old and I love to dance ..more than a hobby.I took ballet classes since the age of 6 , but I stopped at 11 because of personal reasons.  I begun again at 18 when I went to college and realize even more how much dance means to me.. At the ballet school I was in the 10-12 year olds class/level, and  followed the Russian system.  I begun practicing on pointes after the 1st year and  my teacher and the Russian examiner said how much progress I made.  After 5 years there, I wasn’t very pleased with the lessons and the way my teacher ignored me and didn’t care less for my determination, my discipline and love for dancing.  I was making a lot of progress, but she only cared for the money, and the younger students so her school would look good in the eyes of potential students.  I stopped again and took a year of Latin dancing, which I enjoyed a lot.

My technique in ballet is similar to a 15-16 year old , but I have a lot of potential, at least for modern dance.  I have very good rhythm, musicality and flexibility.  I practice at home very often.  I want to dance in a more 'professional' way- not take it as a hobby- is there a chance for me?  I come from a very small country where most of the people don’t appreciate much dance and ballet.  Maybe it will help to go to another country-it's in my plans anyway.I like modern dance (never took classes, though), Latin, flamenco. Can I combine these with ballet training?  Could you please give me any advice, information, guidance ?I’m so worried that I won’t be able to do one of the few things that I love so much in my life.  I feel like nobody wants to give me a chance and it’s so unfair because I’m a good dancer- even if I stopped my ballet training for 7 years. I feel very sad, depressed, dissappointed about dance and especially ballet. I can't seem to find the strength to keep trying my best to become a better dancer. Please give me some encouragement.  Christine
