I would say that since you had danced for such a long time several years ago that you have a good start.

PRoblem is you didnt stick it out for those years of refinement of technique from 11 to 17.

So what you need to do is get back in the studio and dance dance dance.  Carefully, while working all those necessary and intricate muscles groups.  I can tell you that you probably became considerably weaker in the past 6-7 years without dancing.

If all you can afford is to dance 1 time a week...then you should practice 3-4 more times a week.  Most pointe students are well trained and dance regularly to keep the necessary muscles stong and lengthened.

But the final decision as to when you go on pointe is through your instructor.
