>Hi, i doubt a year is long enough to think about pointe. Also, pointe is largly to do with feet muscles, battelment glisse is probs a good one to go for, make sure you go right into the floor, and its the strength in your feet not your legs you are using. Also, try releve to pireuette position from a grand plie a la second-  this is v. good for balance and strength. Tok to your teache about pointe. but really you need sound technique, strong feet and ankles + the correct placement. The reason my teacher wont teach me pointe is because, despite having just sat my Grade 5 with like 1.5 month of work @ grade 5 and having only done ballet for 8 months, is because she has trouble enought teaching me to hold my self correctly as a guy should. The way you carry yourself en pointe is very different from a terre (i an gueseing a tere is the opposite of en pointe) - maby this is also a consideration.>Try curu for 2 mins - see that pain in your calfs, times it by 10 and then you know what being en poite is like - do u really want that?!>As for flexibility, 2 years of streaching, and i still aint in the splits! :P>Dwow i feel so muh better about becoming more flexible now.i totally want to do pointe no matter what.i think id be too embarressed to ask my dance teacher about it b/c not every1 in the class is too serious some ppl just want a basic ballet idea for auditions whch was y i first started but now i love it.i practice releves plies etc everyday and i am starting to feel my muscles getting stronger in my legs.do u think i coudld teach myself pointe???
