A dancebelt is generally required, but especially if you wear leotard over tights, it's not quite so necessary. The most important thing defining a men's vs. woman's leotard, in my opinion, is the neckline. Leotards with shelf bras, pinch fronts, etc. meant to accomodate and display breasts just don't look good on guys.
