I've been told that males if wearing a leotard typically wear it under their tights.  As for the dancebelt I strongly recommend getting one.  They're not too uncomfortable, but they difinately can prevent you from injuring yourself.  I wear dancebelts made by Capezio, but other companies make them as well.
