Just one thing I would add regarding your question about instruction for guys...at the beginning, it doesn't matter.  You need to build up basic ballet technique first, then get into the steps and combinations that set the guys apart from the gals.  You cannot do fantastic leaps until you have the proper tendue and plie.

When looking for schools (Get a copy of Dance Magazine...there are lists of schools by state in the back, or maybe try their website, the lists might be there, too.) try the schools that are associated with (professional, performing) dance companies...these are usually larger and you may find more ballet guys there to work with.

Good luck!  Just as Dance Guy suggested, you can e-mail me too if you have any questions.  (When you try to figure out how to wear a dancebelt, another guy can be helpful!)

P.S.  I just thought of one more thing.  There are other sites where the guys usually can talk to eachother about ballet.  (These parsimony sites can be too "racy" at times, and off topic!)  There's www.danceart.com, which has message boards called "Men in Dance" and "Guy's Club" (for teens). (In fact, a guy dancingdoc posted a great message there on wearing dancbelts, dated 8/18/00.)  There's also my new favorite (Although I haven't posted there yet.), the Men Only board at www.balletalert.com.  Go there; there are some great discussions there.  balletboy
