Re: A Few Questions About Ballet

you have to work hard. You really still need to take classes for at least two years before you can go on pointe.  It takes that long because your feet have to get strong and you don't want to rush that - or you could get hurt.  If you work hard and listen closely to your teacher, you will be prepared for pointe. Regular ballet class will prepare you.  And, yes, there is no reason why you can't go to a dance oriented college.  In fact that is a very good idea - to get your education and well as your dancing.  Lots of luck, Rachel!!  Basheva>Hello- My name is Rachel, and I am starting ballet very soon. I am 13 years old, my height is 5'7, and I weigh 145 lbs. I need to get in shape before I start ballet. These are my questions:>*If I take three 1 1/2 hour classes a week, can I be dancing on pointe sooner than 2 years? >*Why does it take so long to dance on pointe?>*What type of preparation will I be doing to be dancing on pointe? >*At age 13, is there any way I can be a professinal dancer, or at least get into a ballet-oriented college when I'm older? >Thank you all for your help and answers! >Rachel
