You didn't say how old you were, however, it is generally best to begin any kind of physical regimen gradually and give your body a chance to adjust.  Many dancers have joints that pop. Sometimes it is the tendon snapping into place.  If I were you I would go to an orthopedic doctor and have it checked out and talk to your teacher.  Gentle stretching before class, then thorough stretching while warmed up between barre and center class is usually very beneficial. All stretching, however, should be done gently and thoughtfully, with no pushing.  Relax into the stretch.  Basheva
