You need to work on pointe only under the supervision of a teacher - in class - not by yourself. The only discomfort your should feel in a pointe shoe is in your toes - not your knees or ankles. Basheva No, no. It is under the supervision of a teacher. I practiced just flat ballet by myself withiut a teacher before I started lessons a few months ago. My teacher has given me pointe shoes and wants me to start work in them and I am suprised because I've only been studying ballet formally since December.
