See the posts below that have discussed this very topic; there have been some interesting posts on this on the danceart.com boy's club and men in dance boards as well. In the US, most schools are very much against it. My school, VBT in Norfolk, VA gives a specific uniform with very little room to deviate. So, check it out and let us know how it goes.
