M. Stevens Tights

i just bought a pair of M. stevens footless tights. first off, let me say THANK YOU to everyone on the board who boasted about them... they are incredibly comfortable.  only one problem... when dancing, the waist tends to migrate down so that they aren't sitting really tight to my crotch area.  is this normal, or do you have to sew an elastic to the top to keep them up and taut?  also, is there supposed to be a lot of material above the waist... i folded it over because it was too big.
