I always wear a thong when riding.  I find a dancebelt is too restrictive of the pelvic movement needed for a correct seat. I find that my waist has to be free of the elastic of the dancebelt, because sometimes a rider has to be able to relax the lower abdomen, a movement that is rare in dance.

This is just my humble opinion, and I know others may find that a dancebelt gives the best support.

But I have another question...do you think that turnout hurts a rider?  I have heard girls who ride and take ballet where the ballet teacher has tried to stop the riding because it could "hurt" turnout.
