I just started at 35 (more like shy of 36 by a few days).  As for aching, I didn't have any problems until recently.  While they effect my feet, they're unrelated to dance.  I've never really experienced soreness or achiness associated with dance.  If anything, I've felt much better as a result.  I used to have problems with my lower back.  Not since I started dancing.  

As to ordering on-line, others have more experience than myself so I'll defer to them.  I recently ordered through New York Dancewear on line.  I haven't received it yet, so I don't know if it was screwed up or if it was as ordered.  An experience with Riversedge was less than pleasing, but they're making up for it in customer service after the fact.  I'l give them a plus for that.  

Try Dancer.com.  They have a section devoted to dancewear suppliers.  The names NY Dancewear and Riversedge pop up on this forum a lot.  

Good luck.  Feel free to e-mail me if you need support come that big day you set foot in the studio for the first time.  I know I did and the support I got here and elsewhere was welcome and needed.
