geschrieben von balletboy Your questions: >Q1 - dancebelt "fitting in" problem >When i wear a dancebelt i have to wear a rather small one in waist and in total height. At first the illusion takes hold of it fitting perfectly. THEN you notice something not fitting in. We can all imagine what that might be. It seems as if the littleness of my body never inhibited anything of "little buddy". Has anyone else had this problem and if so how have you corrected it? The problem is probably in the dancebelt itself, or in the way you're wearing it. What type and style is it? Some dancebelts are cut kind of low, but most are stretchy enough so the waist band can be seated high enough to contain any anatomy. Are you wearing the dancebelt "low?" If so, try bringing the waist up. If the dancebelt is too short in the rise, try another brand and/or style of dancebelt. >Q2 - What is the difference between the "up" and "down" position?? I think ive been wearing it in the UP but I asked my male dance instructor and he said that he wears his in the DOWN. I tried this and it seems impossible. Am i donig something wrong? please explain in deatil. Wearing it "down" pushes the anatomy more into the crotch, where quick, scissor-like movements can possibly cause injury. DancingDoc mentioned some real anatomical reasons for the need to wear it "up," but I can't find them...maybe it was another board. Also, Dr. Dancebelt is an excellent source for advice on this matter. >Q3 - we are doing a performance in the summer and my other teacher asked me to do a "nude-like" scene. The idea was to wear a pair of nude, opaque tights with no dancebelt underneath, "it" going down the while i dance. Is this comfortable? Should I? I see the idea so the show gets the outline of my masculinity with having it EVERYWHERE. Please reply soon. How old are you, and how old are the other dancers in the show? If you or any member is under 18, I would call this "obscene." I've heard of some costumes for "nude-like" shows, but never saw one. Nude ballet, so very infrequent, should not be performed with or to young audiences. Now I'm not a prude, and I would dance naked for the appropriate audience and an appropriate choreography, but I do know that in many jurisdictions an appearance like this might get you arrested. Moreover, one purpose of dance is to display the human body and allow it to portray emotions, feelings, etc. But you don't have to be naked to portray the dance. The art of choreography includes appropriate costuming, and if your teacher cannot get his/her idea across without you being naked, he/she should probably not be doing choreography. balletboy Antworten zu diesem Beitrag:
