What do boys wear to ballet classes? The standard for a starting class for boys is white t-shirt, black tights, dancebelt and ballet slippers. In some classes you may wear only the T-shirt, dancebelt, tights and slippers, white slippers or black; in others, you wear black tights with white socks and white slippers. I prefer the latter combination, as you can see your feet better in the mirror when they're in white. With black tights and black slippers, the shape of the foot is not so obvious. A dancebelt is essential under the tights. It is a supporter that holds your equipment up and out of the crotch, so they don't get hurt during sharp, scissor-like movements when the legs are held closely. You'll appreciate this when you are older. There's a lot more to know about a dancebelt, but first get one.
