Re: Dancebelts.....

Dancebelts can be made out of so many different types of fabric.  I find that different fabrics can bring about different "moods" for me.  Even with my store-bought dancebelts, like Capezios, I often wear different lining fabrics for the pouch.  A plush velevt fabric sewn over a thin layer of foam (one-quarter inch) provides a different feel than the dancebelts original cotton lining.

The best way for you to have a leather dancebelt made is to pick out a dancebelt that you like best and wear it to the leather shop.  Tell the guys there that you want them to make you something that fits like it in leather.  These leather dancebelts are kind of like leather thongs; but, I have cetain modifications that make them fit better to allow for dance movements (elastic inserts).

They'll need to take several measurements: (1) The "waist" measurement, or where you'd like the belt to fit around the body (I have one that fits directly at my waist, one that fits about 2 inches below my belly-button, etc.); (2) The butt-strap length, or the measurement from the back-center of the waist-belt down through the butt-crack, to the base of the pouch; (3) The pouch length, or the measurement from the base of the pouch up to the front-center of the waist-belt; and, (4) The pouch-widths, which are a bunch of measurements for the size of the pouch, from base to top.  You'll also need a hip measurement, or the largest measurement that the belt will have to stretch to to get it on.

You'll also have to decide how wide you want the belt to be.  I have tried belt widths from 1 inch to 3 inches.

I have the elastic inserts set in several different places.  First of all, you'll need elastic inserts in the waist-belt itself, so that when you put it on you can fit it over the hips.  I have one that laces up on two sides, and one with laces in the back, where the butt-strap and belt comes together.  However, the laces will show through your tights, particularly when they're on the sides;  the middle-of-the-back-belt laces are less recognizable under tights. With elastic inserts, I like them on the sides.

The other place for an elastic insert is where the butt-strap meets the pouch.  A small insert here allows for some movement of the butt-strap when you do certain dance movements.  I think this is essential if you're going to dance in the belt.

I prefer the leather dancebelts to be made of calf-skin, as it is more supple and has a nice feel.  Stiffer leathers can make movement difficult. It's a matter of if you want a "binder" or a functional piece of dancewear.

Most of my dancebelts are worn for dance, although I do wear them under street clothes from time to time.  I wore my white leather dancebelt, the one that laces-up in the back - belt to butt-strap, to a costume party as part of an "angel" costume, and my buddies liked it very much.

Your asked: ">Could you give me your private e-mail address so I can possibly clarify when you wear leather dancebelts, possibly get a copy of the pattern from the shop, or description in detail so my leather shop guy can replicate what your leather shop guy does for you, and ask you "off-line" your need or preference for extra tightness?"

The leather dancebelts you have made have to be to your own specifications, like any other great leatherwear.

Reagrding the "extra tightness" in the pouch, that's a matter of my own preference.  I really think that I can't say more than that.  I even have a seamstress that fixes my jockstraps and underwear to the fit I prefer, but it's a matter of preference -- I prefer the feel of "tighter" support in the pouch, and dump these types of clothing when the pouch becomes too loose.  It's just what I like.

Sorry, but I don't give out my e-mail address anymore.  I used to get some strange e-mails!  Hey, I'm gay! But, I don't need some of the extraneous stuff that some guys like to send.

I now only correspond with guys who are really into ballet, and are actively taking classes.  Honestly, I only correspond with about 3 or 4 ballet guys, and do have a very active life off-line!  BalletMaster
