>By the way, on all turns I've been restricted to just doing passe releve, and not trying to get around. But yesterday in class, I went for it and nailed a double outside pirouette. It was my first. I hope it wasn't my last, cause afterwards I was not able to repeat it!
>Ballet buddy
I agree with everything that's been said. and I'll add this. u should practice glissade and passe revele facing the barre and holding on with both hands. I began ballet classes when I was 7 years old and spent nearly 2 years doing the barre that way. adult beginners should do the same thing. and use the barre. for a beginning dancer the barre is there for more than just balance. it gives u the added strength to stay on ur standing leg. u should hold it firmly (not tensely) and push down on the barre as u battement tendu, rond de jambe, etc. eventually u can wean away from the barre and hold it more lightly.
I read ur other messages. it sounds like ur school is pushing u fast, which happens with talented boys who start late. take my advice and install a barre in ur home. practice the basics with 2 hands like I suggested. u'll be amazed at how much it helps.
