There has been tremendous controversy here as we by law have to use European Metric measurments for fluids and weights etc. Shoes so far haven't been affected. But I think that our size 9 is different to yours. I can't explain why though. I do know that our old imperial gallon (now illegal) is different to the American gallon. Ours was 8 pints but perhaps your pints are different to ours. However the last pair of trainers (sneakers)I bought were 9 UK, 10 US and I think 40 EUR. So the sizes 7 and 9 I mentioned were to my knowledge British although they could have been American. What I do know is that the continental shoe measurments are unused and totally meaningless in the UK. Phew! I hope that goes someway to answer your question.
