Dear Joseph,
I know exactly what you are going through. As dancers, we have nothing to say about how we are costumed. Those decisons are made by choreographers and designers and we follow orders.
I did Romeo and Juliet as part of a summer intensive. It was not the full ballet but an abstract piece. As Romeo I wore white tights and no shirt. All the other guys in the ballet wore grey tights and no shirts. Honest, I think it was costumed that way to save money.
The one piece of advice I can give you is start rehearsing topless as soon as you can. You'll get used to it and it will seem more and more natural to you. By the time you perform the pas next month, you'll be so involved with your partner, the choreography and the music that you won't even miss wearing a shirt.
Hang in there,
Snow King
