![]() the male dancer
written by BalletMaster at on 24.01. at 03:47:50 - as answer to: male dancers by David at Why so concerned that some guy might pad his dancebelt? Concerned it's false advertising? Why do some guys wear cock-rings? Why do guys wear "pouch-front" shorts? Some guys may do these things for vanity, believe it or not! With others, it may be "comfort." With others, it just might be their own anatomy. I've never see Baryshnikov stuff anything into his dancebelt other than his normal anatomy! Same with Nureyev, but would understand why some people would have thought 'dolph stuffed his dancebelt, when that "mass" was really just his normal anatomy (You'll have to trust me and the guys at the bathhouse on that one!). Why might a guy pad his dancebelt? EASY ANSWER...for comfort! I've done that. Some dancebelts, especially if you're wearing them for an extended period, can be very uncomfortable. A layer of padding can help ease that discomfort. I have thin foam cups (about 1/16 th or 1/8 th of an inch thick) that I usually wear with my dancebelt; I also have some foam cups that are a 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick that I occasionally wear, especially if my testicles are "sensitive" that day, or after a tough night. (The truth is that after all my days involved with the dance scene in New York City, I didn't see many guys slipping in a layer of foam, but, then again, many of the guys I saw might have slipped this in at home. However, I did have many, many guys ask me where they could get a foam cup like I was using.) One other thing I'll admit to is that I've never been afraid to customize my dancebelts. One favorite customization is lining the dancebelt with a more comfortable fabric, like velvet. I wouldn't doubt that other guys do this, too. You also should remember that anatomy differs between guys. Maybe guys who achieve "greatness" in ballet just have larger anatomy. I'm not a "size queen" (I prefer great butt!), so I never measured my ballet friends, but know that most of them have fantastic anatomy -- all over their bodies! Just the overall deportment of most dancers tends to hold the pelvis up and out where the genitals may be more noticable. There could be other factors -- maybe photographers prefer to publish photos where the subject looks larger because of the camera-work, positioning, or just optical illusion. Whatever the cause for the appearance, I'm not concerned with it! It's better to appreciate the male dancer for his abilities at dance rather than for the way he looks! Keep that in mind! BalletMaster >Ok, I realize this may come across as very naive, but I really want to know. I understand that male dancers need to keep their private parts up and out of the way, but why is it that professionals on stage seem to be padding their dance belts? Is there something I'm not understanding? If you look the picture of Baryshnikov at http://www.zyworld.com/galina/classical.htm ,as Solor in La Bayadere, it's apparent something's going on. Guys just aren't built that way. Can you help me understand? Answers to this message:
