 the male dancer
written by Carolyn             on 05.09. at 07:25:03My soon to be 8yrs old son has been dancing for about a year or so. Actually he started at 3yrs for about a year but we took a break for a year. He is currently in tap, jazz and ballet. He is one of the few boys in the dance school. He seems ok with it. I am ok with it all as I have two daughters who also take dance there. He is the oldest of the three kids. Nonetheless, this year he has started taking ballet with a rather strict London trained Russian teacher (?) who is requiring him to wear appropriate clothing as opposed to getting by in his jazz shoes, leggings and a baggy t shirt. Where is a good place to shop -online or catalog? What is the difference between a leotard and a unitard? Can he get by wearing a white t-shirt for now? What kind of ballet shoes-split toed or whatever? He is wearing leggings but should he be wearing tights. Most people are afraid to ask the teacher even the directors are afraid of her. Today was my son's first class with her and he said he liked her though. What about those belts? What age to begin wearing and what about those thongs? Answers to this message:
