Is that an INSULT? Don't insult, but face reality.

OK worried father, you said:

"My son would like to learn ballet. ... My concerns are about the notion that male dancers are mostly gay. I donot want my son in that type of enviroment. When I read the comments by a so-called " balletboy" on this forum I get worried about this issue. I feel like that this is a forum for gay trolling by many of the comments that are made."

I'm not a gay troller.  I do provide my comments to anyone, gay or straight, about their concerns.  On a board like this, the comments are in public, for everyone to see.  BUT, my comments to one person are for that person, not for everyone.

I have become disgusted with this site, and have said I never would come back.  But the need for males interested in dance, with their personal concerns, brings me back.

I agree with the other comments you have received...this site is not for young males.  Here older males can talk about dance, or about anything in their lives that interacts with that dance interest.  Sometimes it involves sexual matters.  That's not for the young.

The young need these questions addressed on a one-to-one basis with a trusted parent.  SO HAVE YOU TOLD YOUR SON THE FACTS OF LIFE, EVEN ABOUT HOMOSEXUALS?  Probably not.  As simple as it is, to tell a youngster that sometimes two men or two women feel the need to have a sexual expereince, why do parents feel so ashamed to discuss the truth?  Is it some bias in your thinking, that homosexual activity is disgusting?  Have you ever know two homosexuals who have devoted their live to eachother till death?  Sure, some homosexuals have sex just to please themselves, masturbating against another....but how did you describe masturbation in your facts of life?

My personal belief is that a sexual encounter should be for the purpose of pleasing my partner.  I don't need to have an orgasm for myself, as long as my partner feels the joy of the encounter.  If you think that's disgusting, how do you have sex?  Just so you can get off?  No insult intended, just trying to make a point.

The reality of the matter is that ballet is a non-sexual art where males, straight or gay, express themselves within the meaning of the choreographer.

Your boy will encounter gay males in his lifetime in every aspect of life.  Are there no gay football players?  Are there no gay lawyers and doctors?  Are there no gay truck drivers and construction workers?  If you want your boy away from all gays, send him to a reseach base in Antarctica....no wait...that may not be gay proof.

The best way to prepare your son for living in a world where there are gay and straight and bisexual males is to tell him about that fact.

So get real!  I don't prostelatize (did I spell that right?).  I talk with men about their concerns.  You need to talk with your little man about your concerns!
