Regarding "Dr. Dancebelt"

written by an actual dancer at  on 04.06. at 20:31:49
What is this obssession with TIGHTS? Christ, it's the only topic that is ever discussed on a forum ostensibly addressed to the concerns of the male dancer. Your adoptive moniker("Dr. Dancebelt")and the loving care with which you devote space to cataloguing tights-related polling data and magazine articles would strike the casual reader as someone who is....well, "interested" in tights....a lot. I have no idea what dance studios or companies you may have trained or taken classes with/in, but in the 20-plus years that I have been involved with regional companies (From California to New Mexico, not to mention two summer stints in two European capitals)I have yet to experience the scenario that you describe; a novice dancer, fumbling about with an article of dancewear, pleading with a veteran of Muse Terpsichores' hallowed male legion for assistance in sheathing his form in the proper attire. Has the subject of dancewear come up in discussion? Of course. Do dancers profess preferences for certain styles and makers? Ditto. Do dancers "like" tights? Most dancers that I have known see them as serving a utilitarian purpose (that includes myself); IT DOES NOT DEFINE THEM,IT DOES NOT FORM THE CRUX OF DESIRE FOR THE BALLET ART. If you knew anything at all about post-performance activities, you would know that your beloved tights and the attendant dancebelt are (after chucking our slippers) the first things that a male dancer peels -sometimes, tears- off because, after dancing for an hour to ninety-odd minutes, they are clammy, wet with sweat and UNCOMFORTABLE. Now, FOR THE THIRD TIME: If you are have a fetish for men in dancewear, fine,I could care less; but: Don't try to feed me or anyone else a load of pseudo-intellecualized crap about the role tights play in the professional concerns of the "serious male dancer"; secondly, if this forum (and I did not refer to the topics "discussed" here as "sewage"-if you are going to quote me, be so kind as to do so accurately)is dedicated to the "serious male dancer" why not make it appealing to that category, fetishists be damned. There are, no doubt, panty hose fetish sites that are more than happy to accomodate the nylon/lycra lovin' male herd; have at 'em. when I discovered this site I thought the forum topics would have something to do with the category heading; when I discovered otherwise I was just amused. Now that I've found myself sucked into this nonsense,I leave quite bored. Have at it, guys. If whacking off in tights is your idea of what the serious male dancer is concerned with, then enjoy. There are worse things one can be doing. Good luck.
