Sarah Your son's 12 so he must have some idea of the social structure of kids his age, you are not forcing him to do this so he might have some idea whats in store. Most dance instructors on being informed that a student is being teased will tell you it comes with territory. If your son is thick skinned and not sensitive than he won't have too many problems. You might want to brace him for what could possibly be in store, but don't discourage him, this could be the thing that he is really good at. If he does decide to keep going then after a while he will be respected for what he can do. You might want to let him get used to wearing tights around the house so he has confidence and is not self concious when he first goes to class, be sure at the house he is not met with any discouraging remarks. Since he wants to do this he should be ok just allow him enough space to figure it out for himself. Answers to this message:
