I wasn't able to see this film because it arrive and disapperared so soon in my home town of Chicago, where it was filmed.

I asked a friend who knew the director why she didn't tell me he was in town and filming a ballet movie (I would have begged for an introduction and a day on the set), when I was such a ballet fan, and she said the script was so dull that she didn't mention it to me.

Apparently the story was weak.  However, I was only interested in the dance.  I guess I have to wait until I can get it on DVD to appreciate the parts that would matter to someone like me.
