Perhaps you might can interject that they create a special role for him. Or maybe he can help with the stage production aspect of the recital. I am sure your son doesn't want to be further humiliated by portraying a female's part... the studio is obviously sending a negative message that they don't feel comfotable with him there, but are just putting up with it.
