You start with a creme foundation. Pick out a color that looks good on you, not too pale.  Apply that evenly over your face, ears and neck.

Then you go to work with your 1/4" make up brush.  

For eye shadow, blue works for blue eyed people.  Browns and tans are best for brown eyed people. I use a dark shade close to my upper eye lid, then above the eye I go lighter, and right below the eyebrow, I go white.  This opens up the eyes on stage. Then line your eyelids.  Brown eyed people can use brown eyeliner; blue eyed people may use black. Take your time lining your eyes cause it takes practice to get it right.  It's not necessary to completely circle your eyelids with liner; work from the center out on both your top and bottom lids. Finish the eyes with mascara on your lashes, and again take your time.

You can use some of your white to highlight your cheek bones; be sure to blend it in.  Then below the high light, using a small soft powder brush, you can sculpt your face with rogue in the hollow of your cheeks.  Again, the brighter reds for blondes and browner reds for brunettes.

You can put a little color on your lips.  I don't use lipstick.  I apply a burgundy color to my lips with a 1/4" brush.  Just follow the natural lines of your lips when you do this.  Blot your lips with a tissue.

Now take a look at yourself.  Take your finger and gently blend all the colors on your face so that eveything has a soft edge.  Blend the colors over your eyes.  Blend your cheekbone highlight into your foundation.  Make sure your rogue has soft edges.

At this point, powder your face lightly with translucent face powder.  I prefer a soft brush to a powder puff.  The powder is important, especially if you are doing a lot of athletic dancing and may perspire.  You may freshen up your rogue a little after you have powdered down.

The final thing is your eyebrows.  Use an eyebrow pencil that matches your hair color and give them a nice arch.  I taper the ends of my eyebrows to a fine point.

If you are dancing in an open shirt or tunic, you may want to apply your foundation and powder to the part of your chest that is exposed.
