>>>>>alright.  I've had about enough of all you ignorant idiots out there who seem out to tarnish the male dancer.  We have a hard enough time gaining acceptance in an art form dominated by women as it is.  And believe it or not, there are those of us who love the Dance for the wonderful art form it is.  So to all you ignorant jerks out there ... if you haven't tried it, don't knock it!!!!>>>>I so agree with you. Even as a girl, I am made fun of. when they say 'oh,ballet- do you wear a pink tutu and twirl around?' say- " no- I don't. I go to class everyday, and work my butt off to get my arabesque 180 degrees. You probably don't even know how high that is, do you?">>>>Well said Katie..female friends tell me of the prejudice against girls doing ballet let alone boys! I decided long ago to tell only people I could totally trust that I did ballet and even they still made a few silly comments about me wearing tights.Yes I wear tights and I'm proud to do so!>WEL SAID KATIE!!!>As a male dancer just starting out. I know that to learn properly and do dance and to enjoy it, right you have to wear tights and dance wear. You don't go and play a foot ball game in jeans and jumper with a basket ball now do you. What I am saying is. ENJOY what you do and do it right and you will enjoy it. Forget what other people say,Just tell yourself, they are the ones missing out on something special.>Happy in dance Harry..>PS. and happy wearing tights & leotard.

HI!! I'm from Zimbabwe and believe me there are NO white male ballet dancers here except me. I've been doing ballet for 11 yrs, since i was 5 and have had to go through a hell of a lot of shit over the years! Eventually I decided I'm not going to hide it and now i dont care who finds out and as a result have stopped getting teased cos i didnt give the bullies a reaction so they got bored! I just wanna tell all male dancers out there, dont let anyone make you feel gay or inferior for being a ballet dancer!! It's the best workout and we get to hold girls in places they can only dream about!!Patrick
