Hi!

Welcome to dance class!

Here are some thoughts I have about your inquiry:

Go to a university or junior college with a dance program, and talk with one or two dance teachers about your intentions. Sometimes, suggestions for pre-class exercise might be made. You can also ask to "audit" a class, or drop in to see a class you're interested in, and to see who your potential classmates might be.

Depending on your physical condition, I suggest swimming, or athletic warm-up exercises to attain flexibility. Yoga classes might be taken, to learn flexibility and to keep your body balanced.

I think you may be on the "cusp" age for learning dance, if your aspiration is to perform professionally. Most guys who dance ballet or modern have already taken class from age 14, on average. Depending on your interest level and your ability to focus your energy, as well as how quickly you develop style and talent, you could possibly dance on stage, as a beginner at your age.

Keep On Dancing!
