> I live in Canada, there is a product called the Tanery. It's a spray foam specifically for cleaning leather and vinyl. You just remove all excess dirt and spray on. Leave it for 5 to 10 minutes then wipe with a wet towel. Any fabric with a textured surface will do. (I save my old sweat socks and use the cuff to rub the leather clean.) It's available at "Home Hardware" in canada and True Value in the USA.

>I asked about cleaning white leather shoes on alt.arts.ballet some>>years ago, and one of the more interesting replies was a suggestion>>to try an industrial-grade soap called Go-Jo.  I found some at an>>auto supply store.  (Had to resist the temptation to tell them why>>I wanted it. )  It works about as well as anything I've tried.>>In recent years I've been taking class in a studio with remarkably>>clean floors, and the shoes wear out before they get seriously dirty.>>Tom Parsons>Tom!  I think I used to use the same stuff, only it was called "GOOP.">I've seen it around the country under different names.  I've always wondered if the stuff they call DIDI-7 and some of that stuff they sell on late night infomercials is the same thing.>But to tell you the truth, I prefer white leather ballet slippers.  I've had mine made by Freed of London.  There a bit expensive, but the feel of the floor is fantastic. (Notice I didn't say the feel of the sensuous leather on my feet is fantastic!  We do need some serious discussion on this web-site!)>I don't want to start a battle, but what do other guys out there prefer -- canvas or leather?>Thanks for your serious attention to this question!  balletboy
