Lots of practice and careful stretching after exercise! It takes years!

I'm short sighted (5-6 dio) & I have trouble turning too. I've tried taking my glasses off, and it helps reduce the dizziness. But I reckon ultimately it's more a matter of centering - it takes practice, as with everything else. Some days I can find my balance, some days I can't. But don't throw yourself in to a pirouette - just aim to glide round gently & in a controlled manner (concentrate on balance rather than speed). Try just rotating on one demi-pointed foot, using the other to push you round & round - I find that helps me to get my 'centre'.

(3)What are some good calf muscle exercises?

Releve's, I'd say. But stretch your muscles afterwards by facing the barre (hold on to it) & sliding your feet backwards while keeping straight legs.
