the path to believing supernatural things

Hey Depon,

Welc0me back!  Well, not sure the board is really alive yet... we'll see after a while passes, if any smart asses c0me by again.

Sorry to hear about your c0mputer troubles.  Hope you either get it fixed or obtain a new one.  Fortunately c0mputers have bec0me rather cheap these days... you can get a decent "web ready" unit for around $600, and decent used ones for half that.

Meditating eh?  Cool!  Any particular books/videos you've been using?

I'm getting into stretching more, my own variation.  I also bought a yoga DVD that I haven't tried out just yet (want to be flexible enough before starting so that I don't feel too out of shape).  I'm also struggling with my personal philosophy on life... been reading a lot lately and it has me thinking too much about the world, us crazy humans in it, and whether there is any hope for us intelligent savages.  I know, a little off topic, but... well, been thinking about life and the mysteries around us.

Does anyone here believe in reincarnation, telepathy, spirit c0mmunications, etc.?

I'm a scientist at heart, and thus a skeptic on the topic of the metaphysical, supernatural, etc.  Not a total disbeliever, mind you.  Anyway, had yet another testimony to the "twins" syndrome, where one twin has this special connection to the other that transcends normal abilities.  Some kind of ESP.  This wasn't solicited information--I inquired.  The other person is someone I sensed as being very honest, based on previous conversation.  "Well, most people don't believe this, but we have seen some unexplainable things with them.  Like one twin sensing the other in distress and calling her, practically on cue.  Not a random chance--it ALWAYS happens no matter who is upset.  One time Alicia (twin #1) broke her leg in a bicycle accident--Elaine (twin #2) experienced a severe and painful spasm in the same leg, around the same time, WITHOUT knowing what had happened to Alicia."  Too many coincidences?

So, you see a very believable testimony on something like this, it is an indication that there truly are abilities outside the realm of what most of us know and believe.  How far can it go?  Obviously there are claims that extend beyond the twin connection...

How about this "Crossing Over with John Edward" program on the Sci-fi channel?  Seems so incredibly believable.  This random collection of people.  John being able to push down a path that seems dead wrong, then finding a very plausible reason beneath it, uncovering information that he could not have known.  Is it truth or an elaborately constructed ruse?  If it IS real... then... tell me, why hasn't he pursued any collection of testimony about the existence of God, life after death, the real take on religion in God's eyes, etc.?  I'd find it hard to believe that they're concerned about the "hysteria" factor...  "Well, Marianna, your mother is telling you to continue with church no matter what.  And you need to talk to your friend Fionna--she's not saved and will go to hell, but there's an excellent chance you can get her to accept Jesus."  How c0me we don't get the "low down" on where religions stand?

Anyway, there are clues out there that there's more to life than meets the eye.  The trick is, figuring out what is real and what isn't...  the never ending search.

Well that's enough theology/metaphysics for one night...   ;-)
