Re: men's pointe shoes

Actually, there are some GREAT advantages to men receiving pointe training!  Many male choreographers have used such training in order to understand the movement of pointe work and to help in their realization of dancing 'en pointe'.  As a matter of fact, it is becoming more and more common for schools and studios to offer pointe classes for men.

Another reason for men to use pointe shoes is for corrective purposes.  They enforce proper turn-out for those who have trouble.  Special toes shoes have been made for men...made of leather, so they will be stronger.

As far as the purchase of "Men's Pointe Shoes", I have yet to find a place that makes them specially for men!  BUT, the Sansha outlet in NYC offers Black canvas toe shoes in a HUGE range of sizes....Why?  BECAUSE MEN DANCE EN POINTE!  (Have we not heard of Les ballets Trockaderos de Monte Carlo?!?!?!)  I own two pairs of the mentioned toe shoes....and they aren't even the BIGGEST that they come in!  I wear a 12 X...yes, they do come in wide widths!

Anyway, the Sansha reps are AMAZING!  Last time I was at the store, they were extremely helpful in my fitting, etc.  And don't worry...they don't even flinch when a guy asks to buy toe shoes.  Guys go in there all of the time for them.  i hope that this helped!  Good luck!!!!  ~Jeremy
