geschrieben von Chris              am 01.10. um 08:02:56 - als Antwort auf: the importance of tights for the male ballet dancer von demiplie atinteresting all this talk about fashion and looks, and gender roles, but i had always understood that tights were largely functional, i.e. it would be uncomfortable to dance naked so you have to wear something, but something that does not restric movement or extension ( so nothing too baggy with extra fabric that can get in your way. also it is important for the dancer and the ballet instructor to be aware of what all the muscles in his legs are doing, how can one do that if he is wearing baggy pants that conceal these muscles. the perfect solution? tights. and on stage there is nothing to break up the lines of the movement.
