 Male dancewear

For me if I'm honest the attraction of ballet was being able , or being made to wear a pair of tights to class.My mother wore tights/pantyhose,my sister wore tights /pantyhose,female friends wear tights/pantyhose,does the fact I now wear tights to ballet class not somehow mean that I secretly enjoy being associated with a specific item of female underwear.This has always troubled me about my own interest in ballet.When I first took adult beginner ballet classes and the ballet teacher told me that it would be ok if I wore shorts to class I felt really upset.She was trying to reassure me assuming that the prospect of having to wear tights would make me feel embarrassed.I however was excited by the prospect of being able to wear tights openly and legitimately in ballet class.I am not gay nor do I see myself as being a cross dresser but I do enjoy the feel of tights. When I wear a pair of ballet tights in a strange way I feel I've crossed over some invisible gender line.If ballet convention suddenly decided that males should no longer wear tights in class or for performances how many of the males who contribute to this forum would still be interested in ballet I wonder?
